Although few people view them as such, cities themselves are ecosystems and essential improvements in the way that we plan and manage our cities will only be sustainable if an ecosystem approach is adopted.

This course will introduce the concept of ecosystem services to design and planning at all scales using the themes of catchment management and drainage, ecological network and green infrastructure planning and the importance of multi-functionality.

A living roofs workshop will then explore how these concepts could be put into practice.

Presented by GARY GRANT and DUSTY GEDGE
